Marais Viljoen High School has an equestrian with 11 riders. The team competes in the SANESA (South African National Equestrian Association) school competition. We ride against schools such as: Holy Rosary, Leeuwenhof Akademie, St Catherine’s and Alberton High. There are about 1000 riders participating, in this competition each year.
A rider has to compete in four qualifying rounds. During the qualifying rounds the rider then has the opportunity to be selected for the Ekurhuleni team and – in a second round- be selected for the team that will compete at nationals. In 2019 we had four riders who went through both phases and then competed at national level. We are very proud of Alexis Terry, who at the SANESA awards evening, was placed in the top 10 riders for 2019. Marais Viljoen’s team has achieved a runner-up place in category F for 2019.
The Equestrian team of 2019 has shown without a doubt that there is no lack of talent in our team. They are truly dedicated to the team and their sport. We hope this will continue in the future, as the sport is growing.
Hoekom Marais Viljoen?
Leaders in Comprehensive Education
